Thwing-Albert, a manufacturer of physical property testing instrumentation for over 115 years, is honored to be part of The Franklin Institute’s new SportsZone exhibit. The Franklin Institute approached Thwing-Albert Instrument Company to assist with testing the flexural properties of a professional hockey stick for their new exhibit.
The Thwing-Albert JDC Precision Sample Cutter is widely recognized as the preferred sample preparation tool for tensile testing of thin sheeted materials due to the cutting accuracy. So, how did the JDC win that reputation? Lots of attention to detail for the blades and a strict quality control process.
The Handle-O-Meter was originally developed to test the durability and flexibility of toilet paper and paper towels. This testing machine is now featuring a touch-screen control panel and the ability to interface with MAP4 Advanced Materials Testing Software.
Blocking is the unwanted adhesion between layers of plastic film. Results reflect the ability of a material to adhere to itself when pulled apart. ASTM D3354 specifications are used to program MAP4 materials testing software to run the blocking test. The results demonstrate the degree of blocking that exists as a result of factors including film processing, storage, temperature and pressure.
A new accreditation has been attained by Thwing-Albert Instrument Company.  In addition to the company’s ISO 9001 certification, which the company has held since 1995, Thwing-Albert Instrument Company is now accredited to ISO/IEC 17025:2005.
The score quality test evaluates the relative quality of scores in paperboard, corrugated containers, and plastics. This fixture can be fit on the Score Bend Tester and the VantageNX.
Thwing-Albert has partnered with CeraTek to offer Laboratory Heat Sealers as a sample preparation tool for customers. This tool provides customers with a way to create a sealed sample when used with a Universal Testing Machine to measure for tensile, seal, and tear strength properties.
Thwing-Albert Instrument Company has released a new Tensile Testing Machine Design, the VantageNX. This revamps the popular EJA Vantage Series to introduce a new ergonomic frame. The new VantageNX is available in capacities of 1kN and 2kN and will replace the previous frame for those capacities. Â
The introduction of another CNC Machine to the manufacturing facilities at Thwing-Albert Instrument Company will add the ability to work on larger parts in house.
