It is essential for technicians toย choose the correct yarn, rope and wire testing gripย for the material. The proper grip ensures the results are reliable and repeatable. Many factors determine which testing grip is appropriate for the material. Thwing-Albert can help experts select the grip best suited for the material.
Theย TAS13 pneumatic gripย is a bollard-style instrument for cord, filaments, yarn, fine wires and fibers. It features a guide horn with a centering groove to make sample insertion easier and reduce stress on the sample to prevent breakage. These grips meet the industry standard ASTM D7269 Tensile Testing of Aramid Yarns.
Technicians can choose between three models โ TAS13k with 200 newtons (N) of load capacity, TAS13m with 2 kN of load capacity and TAS13g with 5 kN of load capacity.
Theย TA76 gripย is used to secure narrow ribbons, yarn, ropes, cords, fine wires and filaments. The sample is twisted around the guide roller and fixed with clamping jaws. The slow, notch-free stress relief in the guide rollers prevents the sample from breaking at its clamping point. This grip model is available in 1, 5 and 20 kN maximum load capacities.
Theย TAS255 rope gripย is a steel, nickel-plated grip with a maximum load of 10 kN. The 26-mm guide roller can hold samples up to 4 mm. The coupling is Af 15.9, with additional couplings available upon request.
Theย TA170 rope gripย is used for ribbons and ropes up to 50 kilonewtons (kN). The sample is twisted around the guide roller and held by clamping jaws. Its guide rollers prevent the sample from breaking in the clamping area. Thwing-Albert also offers 100, 150 and 200 kN versions of this fixture.
