ASTM D3078

ASTM D3078 is the standard test method for Flexible Packaging Leak Testing by vacuum. The method submerges a sealed flexible package in water under vacuum, identifying leaks visually by the appearance of bubbles at the defect site. It is widely used in food, medical device, and consumer packaging applications across the United States. Thwing-Albert is the authorized U.S. distributor for DVACI CDV Vacuum Chamber leak testing equipment, built to perform ASTM D3078 testing along with a range of other package leak testing methods.

For pharmaceutical packaging applications requiring bubble leak testing by internal pressurization, see ASTM F2096. Related standards also supported by the DVACI CDV include ASTM D6653 for altitude simulation, ASTM D5094 for rigid containers with liquid, and ASTM D4991 for empty rigid containers.

DVACI CDV Chamber Sizes for ASTM D3078
