ASTM F1921 is the Standard Test Methods for Hot Seal Strength (Hot Tack) of Thermoplastic Polymers and Blends Comprising the Sealing Surfaces of Flexible Webs. Hot tack is the strength of a heat seal immediately after sealing, before it has cooled to room temperature. This is the critical measurement for packaging operations where a seal must hold under immediate load before it has had time to fully set. The J&B Hot Tack Tester 5000MB is specially designed to fulfill all ASTM F1921 hot tack measuring requirements.
The J&B Hot Tack Tester 5000MB is a dedicated hot tack testing instrument for automatic measurement of heat seal strength on heat-sealable flexible packaging materials. It simulates heat sealing on an automatic packaging machine — making a hot seal and stressing it under pre-programmed conditions — to generate accurate, repeatable hot tack data per ASTM F1921. Six parameters are fully user-selectable: sealing temperature, sealing time, sealing pressure, cooling time, peeling speed, and sample width. The instrument is used in research and development, incoming material inspection, and statistical quality control and process control programs for raw materials, semi-finished goods, and finished packaging products.
Thwing-Albert has supplied reliable and accurate testing instruments to research laboratories, quality control departments, and packaging operations worldwide. Contact us to learn more about the J&B Hot Tack Tester 5000MB or to request a quote.
