Heated Platen for FP-2265 Friction/Peel Tester

The heated platen allows for testing at elevated temperatures.  Ideal for plastic film testing.  Its small bench top design makes the FP-2265 light weight allowing it to be used in a laboratory or setup out on the production floor for offline testing as needed.

Temperature range from: 21C to 204.4 C (70F to 400F)

Plastic film, adhesives, labels and packaging materials are ideally tested with the FP-2265 heated platen option)

Compatible with fixtures and load cells from the FP-2260, FP-2255, and FP-2250

Replaces older models, including the FP225-1, FP-2250, FP-2255, and FP-2260

Description

Thwing-Albert’s FP-2265 Heated model extends coefficient of friction and peel adhesion testing to elevated temperatures, for materials whose performance changes with heat exposure.

Heated Coefficient of Friction Testing

The heated platen brings COF testing to elevated temperatures, ideal for wax coatings, heat-seal release liners, and films or coatings whose slip and friction properties shift with temperature. The heated platen operates from ambient up to 204.4°C (400°F), with temperature accuracy of ±2.0°C (±3.6°F) and deviation of ±5.0°C (±9.0°F) across the platen. Compatible with dedicated Heated Platen COF Sleds for accurate, repeatable results at temperature.

Heated Peel Testing

The 90° peel fixture is also available in a heated configuration, supporting elevated-temperature peel adhesion testing for heat-seal films, laminates, and pressure-sensitive materials that require testing under thermal conditions representative of real-world use.

Full Instrument Capabilities

All standard FP-2265 features remain available with the heated option installed, including the color touchscreen interface, built-in pneumatic controls, compatibility with existing FP-2260, FP-2255, and FP-2250 fixtures and load cells, and CSV data export. Seal strength and tensile testing are also supported using the instrument’s standard (non-heated) fixtures.

The FP-2265 operates as a standalone instrument — no PC required. Test results include static COF, kinetic COF, slide angle, standard deviation of kinetic COF, peel average, high, low, and standard deviation, and tensile peak force, elongation at peak, and elongation at break. Statistical analysis (avg, max, min, std dev) is available across all modes.

For expanded data analysis, graphing, custom test libraries, and Excel export, the optional MAP4 Materials Testing Software integrates directly with the FP-2265.
