Restore your JDC Cutter to like new condition.This service includes regrinding side blades, furnishing new base shear, and any adjustments that may be necessary.ย ย 

Please submit your Model # and Serial # when completing a request so we can provide an accurate quotation.

What is Included in a JDC Cutter Reconditioning Service:

  • Initial Inspection
  • Regrind (re-sharpen) side cutting blades.
    • Blades will be re-sharpened as long as they are within tolerance.
    • If they cannot be re-sharpened within tolerance, new blades will be needed.
  • Furnish a new base shear.
  • Furnish new pull springs.
  • Furnish new compression spring.
  • Furnish new hardware where needed.
  • A spring guard will be added to those units that do not currently have one.
  • Any necessary parts up to $50 retail value will be included at no charge.
    • Additional charges may apply if parts are required beyond a $50 retail value.
  • Cutter will be cleaned, lubricated and inspected for conformance to standard.
  • Any necessary adjustments to bring parallelism back to +/-.001 inches (.0254MM).
  • A certificate of conformance is also included at no additional charge.ย  ย 

All reconditioning services are completed at the Thwing-Albert Instrument Company facility and must be shipped in for service.ย ย 

An RMA # and packaging instructions will be assigned once your purchase order/payment is received

A final quote will be sent after inspection of your unit if additional parts are needed.

FAQs

How many times can the JDC Cutter be reconditioned?ย 
The blades can be sharpened until they no longer meet the tolerance.ย  After that, they will need to be replaced.

How do I know when it is time to recondition my cutter?
Reconditioning needs are based on usage.ย  That may be indicated by quality of cuts or test results.
