ASTM F2096, Standard Test Method for Detecting Gross Leaks in Packaging by Internal Pressurization (Bubble Test), tests packaging integrity by introducing positive internal pressure and submerging the package in water. Leaks are identified visually by bubbles at the defect site. The method applies to flexible, semi-rigid, and rigid packaging and is commonly required in pharmaceutical manufacturing and medical device packaging in the United States.
Testing can be performed using external vacuum or internal pressurization. The DVACI CDV Vacuum Chamber supports both approaches and is available in benchtop and floor stand configurations across six chamber sizes.
