Recognizing Mr. Steven J Berg for his Commitment to TAPPI Leadership

Thwing-Albert is a proud, sustaining member of TAPPI for nearly 60 years and has supported the organization through consistent involvement by our company’s leadership holding multiple positions throughout our participation with TAPPI.

The support for the pulp, paper, and packaging industries is deep-rooted making our commitment to TAPPI a very important part of our ability to produce instruments that the industry needs and rely on for future growth.  TAPPI is the world’s largest association of professionals in the pulp, paper, packaging, and converting industries providing access to education and events to support these industries and their growth and sustainability.

We would like to recognize Steven J. Berg, our current Vice President of Sales and Marketing, for his time on the TAPPI Board.  He has held multiple positions including the Division Chairman for the Process and Product Quality Division, which oversees the physical, tissue, optical, and pulp and chemical committees.

Steven has worked in the Physical Testing industry for over 45 years. He joined Thwing-Albert as a machinist in 1974 and later transferred into the sales department as an inside salesman.  He was subsequently promoted to a regional account manager, and in 2009, he was promoted to Vice President of Sales & Marketing. 

In 2009, Steven joined TAPPI and has been active in the P&PQ division committees.  He has been the Chairman of the P&PQ division from 2015 to 2020 and has also served as the Chair of the Tissue Subcommittee.  This position is tasked with assessing and promoting process and product quality through improvements in quality testing. 

Steven was recently recognized for his overall leadership from 2015-2020.  He currently assists in the scholarship committee helping foster the future of the industry by providing scholarships to students with an emerging interest in the Pulp and Paper Industry.  Steve has been involved in many TAPPI events over the last 10 years to share his knowledge and educate businesses working with the Pulp and Paper Industries. 

Thwing-Albert is dedicated to the continued support of TAPPI by maintaining our involvement in method development and industry interaction to further help impact the future of quality for an industry that our company business was founded upon.  We like to thank Steve for upholding that commitment and being a steward for this objective for the past 10 years.Â
