From Keypad to Touchscreen: What’s Changed on the FP-2265 Friction/Peel Tester

For years, labs have relied on the FP-2260 and its predecessors to run coefficient of friction, peel and seal strength tests day in and day out. The mechanics that make those instruments dependable haven’t changed. What has changed is how operators work with them.

The FP-2265 Friction/Peel Tester replaces the membrane keypad with a color touchscreen. It sounds like a small change. In practice, the FP-2265 touchscreen makes tests faster to set up and easier to learn.

How the FP-2265 touchscreen simplifies testing from setup to results

Here is how the touchscreen streamlines a typical coefficient of friction test, from choosing the method to reviewing the result:

Step FP-2260 (keypad) FP-2265 (touchscreen)
Select the test method Scroll through menus with the arrow keys Choose the method on the screen
Set test parameters Step through settings one at a time on a compact display Review and adjust settings on a full color screen
Run the test Start from the keypad Start from the touchscreen, or from the optional Universal Instrument Remote
Review results Navigate menus to find results Review results on the touchscreen

What operators notice first about the FP-2265 touchscreen

The color touchscreen makes the FP-2265 faster for every quality technician and operator. Test methods, results and settings are all on one screen, with no menus to step through and no separate keypad or PC needed. Experienced users move between methods with less effort, and new team members get up to speed without a reference sheet nearby.

What else changed

The touchscreen is the most visible improvement, but it isn’t the only one:

  • Built-in pneumatic controls. Pneumatic grips and fixtures no longer need a separate pneumatic controller, which simplifies setup and frees bench space.
  • Optional Universal Instrument Remote. Test control can sit at the operator’s fingertips, so adjustments don’t interrupt the workflow.
  • Standalone operation. The FP-2265 runs without a PC. When you need advanced analysis, optional MAP4 Materials Testing Software is available.

What stays the same

A new interface doesn’t mean starting over. The FP-2265 is built on the same proven friction/peel platform:

  • The same test capabilities: coefficient of friction, peel adhesion, seal strength and light tensile testing up to 10 kg (22 lb).
  • The same standards: testing to ASTM, ISO, TAPPI, FINAT, PSTC and TLMI methods.
  • Your existing tooling: the FP-2265 accepts load cells, fixtures and clamps from the FP-2260, FP-2255 and FP-2250. See what carries over.

Operators who know the FP-2260 will recognize the instrument right away. They will simply spend less time on the screen and more time on the results.

Why it matters for your lab

An easier interface pays off in ways that add up over the life of an instrument:

  • Faster training. New operators can be running tests sooner, which matters for labs with shift work or turnover.
  • More confident setups. When settings are easy to see, it is easier to confirm the right method is loaded before a test starts.
  • Easier method changes. Labs running several test methods can switch between them without working through menus.

The best way to judge the difference is to see it. If you are evaluating an upgrade, we are glad to run your test methods on the FP-2265, in person or online.
