The Rycolab Concora Medium Fluter consists of 2 directly heated segments with 175 ±5°C, covered through a front plate and pressed against each other with definite force. The segments are directly heated with only 200 W heating power (older models have 2.000 W power consumption). The sample is put on top and falls out ready from an opening in the lower area of the fluter. The sample is glued on a tape with help of a “3rd hand” and is then ready for testing in a crush tester.
The sample is put into the opening on the top of the instrument. By pressing the START button the stripe with 6 x ½” (152.4 x 12.7 mm) dimension is inserted into the machine and falls out ready formed on the lower part. The sample is then laid onto the opened “3rd hand”, the holder is closed and the tape is glued onto the sample. This sample is now ready for testing.
Two models available fixed segment which is only for “A” segments or interchangeable segments allowing the user to change between segment types to create flutes of various sizes.
Exchanging the segments is easy: once the device has cooled down, the front cover is removed and the spring-opener is placed into the device. Then the segments are removed by means of the quick clamping mechanism. The new segments are put into place and fastened. After removing the spring-opener, the force on the segments are checked and the cover is placed. Within 10-15 minutes from turning on the device, the segments heat up to the desired temperature and the device is ready for producing CCT and CMT samples of the required type. The device with changeable segments is always shipped with Flute type A segments.
